Newsletter Update – June 20th, 2020

June 20th, 2020

As we continue with the recovery phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, I wanted to update you on what my campaign has been doing over the past couple of weeks.

VETERANS ARE MY NUMBER ONE PRIORITY

Recently, I held a Zoom call with members of my “Veterans For Tillis” coalition. During the event, we discussed how I want to improve care for our service members when they’re active, but also make sure that their transition to veteran life is seamless.

I was joined on the call by Former U.S. Army Captain Meaghan Mobbs, Former U.S. Army Special Forces Senior Weapons Specialist Arthur Pue and Gold Star wife Britt Harris. On the call we talked about my work modernizing the VA healthcare system through the MISSION Act, increasing educational opportunities for veterans through the VALOR Act and raising awareness for Gold Star families.

I also participated in a media event this week to speak about health care issues facing our nation’s veterans. I discussed my legislative efforts to help veterans exposed to toxic chemicals and burn pits and how veterans deserve top-notch medical care.

VISIT WITH USDA SECRETARY SONNY PERDUE

This past Monday I joined U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue in Raleigh to discuss food supply issues during the COVID-19 pandemic. North Carolina is a major player in food production and I was excited to see USDA Secretary Perdue visit North Carolina and recognize the organizations and companies in our state that are working to feed our nation during this difficult time.

“SMALL BUSINESS ADVISORY COUNCIL” VIRTUAL EVENT

On Friday, I held a virtual meeting with small business leaders all across North Carolina. These leaders are members of my “Small Business Advisory Council,” which I unveiled this week. They will be great assets as I work to find more ways to empower small businesses so that they can provide our state with economic growth, innovation and job opportunities.

KEEP IT UP

I will continue to work hard to get North Carolina’s economy back on its feet and all of you back to work. Please continue to follow public health guidelines so we can beat this virus and continue our economic recovery. I’m looking forward to connecting with you all on the campaign trail very soon. Thank you for allowing me to share these updates, and God bless you!
