Common sense, conservative values are what made North Carolina an inviting place to live and raise a family. State government should reflect those values and defend them from political correctness.
Pro-Family
As a pro-life Republican, I believe government’s first responsibility is to protect life, especially the most fragile. Likewise, government must protect the values that made our country great. But I disagree with the overheated rhetoric that too often pollutes these policy debates. Founding values include respect for opposing views on deeply personal issues.
Tough on Crime
Similarly, our criminal justice system is designed to protect North Carolinians from violence through swift justice that fits the crime. Victims deserve no less. I will fight to make sure victims’ rights are protected, not ignored under the guise of political correctness. We cannot let pressure on the judicial system and crowding in our jails to prevent us from our obligation to remove criminals from a law-abiding society. If you commit a serious crime, you must go to jail and you must serve your sentence. I will work to impose the toughest penalties allowed for domestic violence, sex offenses, and crimes against children.
Pro-Growth, Pro-Environment
It is good business policy to protect one of our most important assets: our environment and natural resources. Our air and water quality continues to improve, and we must take measures to ensure that we maintain a continuous process of improvement, without complex and costly regulations on business. As an avid outdoorsman, I support viable options that allow businesses to flourish along with our environment.
