Press Office, 704-248-2980
In
the second meeting of the Republican House Members, votes were cast
for leadership positions for the Republican Caucus. The
leadership for the 2007-2008 session will be:
Paul "Skip" Stam, Minority Leader - This position is the leader
of the Republican caucus. The minority leader works to gain
consensus among the individual leaders for broad strategies or
positions taken by the group and supports members in their efforts
to move measures through the legislative process.
William "Bill" McGee, Minority Whip - This position is in many
respects the "right hand" of the minority leader. The primary
responsibility of the Whip is to track where the caucus stands with
regard to key votes and to work with the minority leader and other
members of the caucus to secure support for measures that are
supported by the majority of the caucus.
Dale Folwell, Republican Joint Caucus Leader - This position
acts as a liaison between the House Republican caucus and the Senate
Republican caucus. The joint caucus leader works to ensure
communication between the Republican members of the two bodies and
helps coordinate the movement of measures between the two bodies in
the General Assembly.
Ric Killian, Republican Freshman Whip - This position is
intended to provide a focal point for freshman (newly elected)
members and to facilitate effective communications.
