Today, Thom Tillis announced his plans to run for the North Carolina
House of Representatives 98th District seat in the Republican Primary
Election before a group of supporters. In announcing his
bid for the General Assembly seat, Thom Tillis said "North Mecklenburg
and the 98th District needs a representative in Raleigh who is
committed to conservative values and who is able to produce results.
We need a leader who can work with the Towns of Cornelius, Davidson,
and Huntersville, along with the communities of Long Creek, Steele
Creek, and West Mecklenburg to promote regional cooperation and to
bring back our tax dollars to the 98th District. Unfortunately,
our current representative has lost the confidence and the support of
the community leaders in the 98th District. With the support and
endorsement of the republican leaders in the 98th District, I
will focus on advancing a conservative agenda, and I will
produce results for the 98th District."
Tillis plans to file for the election on February 13th, the opening
day of the filing period. Tillis made his formal announcement at
Red Rocks restaurant in Birkdale Village in Huntersville.
