Endorses Thom Tillis
For Immediate

The Town of Davidson Mayor Pro Tem, a
lifelong registered "Unaffiliated" and long-term member of the
Davidson Board of Commissioners, has publicly endorsed Thom Tillis.
Mayor Pro Tem Woods said "In the past, I have stayed away
from giving campaign endorsements, but the stakes are so high in the
98th District Seat race, I have decided to lend my support to Thom."
In a communication to Davidson citizens, Mayor Pro Tem Woods said:
"The North Carolina Legislature has more
of an impact on the citizens than just about any level of government.
The legislature is responsible for funding nearly 50% of the cost of
our schools and it enables (or disables) local school systems like CMS
to address problems like school overcrowding. The legislature
controls the majority of funds used for building or improving our
roads and highways. The legislature also levies the majority of
taxes collected in the State and it controls how these taxes are
spent. Therefore, we need a strong leader who is able represent
our best interests and our priorities on this critical issues.
As Mayor Pro Tem in the Town of Davidson,
I have first-hand experience working with Thom Tillis. Thom is a
dedicated community servant, and he is well regarded by the elected
officials in Davidson. Thom has received support and
endorsements from an overwhelming majority of the elected officials
serving Davidson, Cornelius, and Huntersville. Thom has
demonstrated an ability to bring together diverse groups to get things
done. While Thom is focused on advancing a well-articulated
agenda for the 98th District, he treats those with opposing
views with respect and dignity, and Thom is open to ideas and
approaches that produce a better outcome for our community.
Given the profound role the North Carolina
Legislature plays in our lives, we need someone in Raleigh who is
deeply connected to the community, who has solid working relationships
with local elected officials, who reaches out to the business
community for common-sense solutions to problems, and who puts the
priorities of the 98th
District in the forefront."
