We must fight another delay of the I-485 loop
project.

Governor Easley endorsed a
transportation improvement plan (TIP) that
pushes back the completion of the final section
of the I-485 loop another two years. We cannot
let that decision stand.
We are working with State
and Local officials to determine how we can
prevent the delay, and we will need your help.
Be on the look out for a future "call to action"
to contact officials who can influence the
reversal of this BAD idea.

WELCOME!
This
edition of my newsletter is focused on
transportation issues, including traffic
congestion and safety on our
roads. Please help us by having your
voice heard. Take a moment to read this
newsletter and to complete a brief
survey. Your active involvement and
your vocal support are critical.
Otherwise, the people in Raleigh will
view your silence as consent with the
status quo. Please get involved.
Sincerely, Representative Thom Tillis

spoken. So what were YOU saying?

Tillis Hosts "Transportation Town
Hall Meeting." Mark your calendars!
North
Mecklenburg's transportation issues are
mounting and the State seems intent on
ignoring our calls for help. The Town
Hall meeting is intended to inform
citizens regarding State-funded
transportation projects and to seek
citizen support for efforts to secure
increased funding. Mark your calendar
and be sure to attend this important
event on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at
the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce
offices on West Catawba Avenue in
Cornelius.

How will we make progress on
transportation issues?
With
overlapping jurisdictions and
competing priorities, making real
progress on transportation issues
requires cooperation and focus.
Town officials, County officials,
business leaders, and legislative
members must to come together to
advance a bipartisan agenda to
provide solutions to the chronic
situation with congestion and safety
on our roads.
I strongly
believe Mecklenburg County and other
major urban/suburban areas across
our State are not receiving an
equitable share of funding for roads
and infrastructure. We must remain
focused and we must all get
involved. I look forward to your
active involvement along with State
and Local leaders to bring about
positive change.
